THE STORY BEHIND DOUN

More than a studio. A philosophy of living.

Founded in Montréal by Nazaret, a senior interior designer with over a decade of experience, DOUN Interior Design Studio is a creative practice known for creating distinctive spaces with a strong sense of identity.

Combining technical expertise, architectural understanding, and creative intuition, the studio approaches each project with precision and artistic expression, considering every layer of an interior, from spatial planning and materiality to custom furniture, lighting, and art.

But the story of DOUN begins somewhere more personal.

DOUN means home in Armenian.

Rooted in Armenian heritage, the name reflects a deep connection to family, traditions, childhood memories, and the feeling of belonging. For its founder, home has always been more than four walls. It is where life unfolds, memories are created, and our sense of identity takes shape.

This connection became the foundation of DOUN: the belief that our surroundings influence how we feel, think, and live. A well-designed space should not only be beautiful but should also bring comfort, inspire everyday living, and reflect the people who inhabit it.

Led by Nazaret and supported by a team of designers and creatives, the studio works across residential and commercial interiors, bringing together refined materials, thoughtful details, and architectural character.

Driven by instinct rather than formula, each project begins with an understanding of its architecture, its surroundings, and the people who will experience it. Rather than following trends, DOUN creates timeless, deeply personal spaces where beauty, functionality, and individuality coexist.
